solar project

solar panels at the front of the houseOur new home in Hawai’i is slowly coming together. I expect my current list of projects will take most of a decade to complete, but I can take small steps for now. Eventually, the home will completely eschew the idea of burning anything for energy. Transportation, heating, cooling, cooking, water filtration and heating, garden tools, and the hot tub will all be 100% electric, and the electricity will come from the sun.

Magnifica!

photo of a DeLonghi MagnificaMy favorite way to make coffee is cold brew, but I do enjoy cappuccino. Since moving in with my betrothed, I have grown accustomed to having her DeLonghi Magnifica (ESAM3300) espresso machine at hand. Continue reading

a car worth washing

I took delivery on my second Tesla Model S back in February. I bought it used from Tesla so it didn’t break the bank, though it is still the most expensive car (to purchase) that I have owned.

The Tesla has completely changed my driving experience.

tesla charger radius enhancer

I wired my garage to charge my Tesla (coming soon—solar charging!), but I didn’t like the charger cable dangling on the floor. I installed a tool balancer to manage the cable, and it worked great but puts a bit of strain on the cable by bending it where it leaves the plug. last gas

Back in April I decided to put down a deposit on a Tesla Model 3. When my number came up, though, the price for even a minimally-configured unit was far more than I was willing to pay, so I put off the purchase.

’leccytech

I put down a deposit on a Tesla Model 3 today. Matthew will be wanting wheels soon, and my fabulous Honda Civic Hybrid is about to turn ten years old, so it seemed like a thing to do. It could be a couple of years before I actually get one, as they’re a bit behind on their production schedule.

Folks I know who already drive Teslas assure me it’s worth the wait.
